Rough Weekend; Still Leading
Friday, July 25 Matt Gerald ran his first Pro-Light race ever for Jeff Kincaid Motorsports. He ran well and finished 5th place.

Saturday, July 25 would have both of the Traxxas/Potawatomi/ BFGoodrich/Toyota trucks for Jeff Kincaid Motorsports running to try and keep the series points lead. Chula Vista, a challenging track, caused a problem for JKM when Chad Hord spun out on a corner and Jeff had nowhere to go in mid-air and rode over top of Hord's hood, also cutting Jeff's right front tire. There was a full-course yellow called so Jeff pulled into the pits and the crew quickly changed the tire to still come out on the lead lap. There was confusion between CORR officials when they told Jeff to pull back up to the 7th position. Later in the race they decided Jeff should have started at the back after he came out of the pits and gave him the black flag with two laps to go. Jeff was in 4th when he received the black flag penalty and was able to come back out and hold on for 9th place.

A few hours later, in Oshkosh, Matt Gerald was set to take his second start behind the wheel of a Pro-Light. Gerald ran a great race and was into 4th position when he got up on two wheels and ended up high-centered on a berm. Track workers had to free him from the berm and he finished in 7th place.
Sunday,
July 27 was an even rougher day for JKM. Jeff qualified 1st but was
inverted to the 8th position, which seemed to be a fine spot. The start
of the race was clean and Jeff was racing three-wide with Chad Hord and
Robert Naughton. Just as Jeff got ahead of the two Hord wasn't able to
check up along with Jeff and got up underneath him. Luckily, all damage
was cosmetic to both vehicles. However, after
completing
the first lap Jeff noticed the engine began to foul out on the first
corner. By the second corner a piston had blown, ending Jeff's race.
Luckily for JKM Naughton, 2nd place in points at the time also blew his
engine and Rodrigo Ampudia, 3rd in points at the time, got
high-centered on a berm and became a lap down in the race.
After all of the action and rough luck during the weekend in Oshkosh and Chula Vista, JKM still finds itself leading the WSORR points chase by 5 and the CORR points chase by 11.

On the Road Again
Jeff Kincaid Motorsports is currently on the road en route to Chula Vista, CA for rounds VII & VIII of the CORR season. It's been an interesting trip, to say the least, with more tire problems on the trailer than have been had on the race truck. However, that is a good thing when you really think about it.
